Hi friends! Hope everyone is having a relaxing summer so far! We’re not doing any big trips this summer, our biggest trip was to Disneyland, and yes that was enough to tire us out for a while. But since we are staying local this summer, I wanted to share some of my favorite fun places to visit in the bay area. There are so many things to do in the bay area itself, if you’re not the traveling type and like staying local then you need to make a visit this summer!

SF

california academy of science

  1. California Academy of Science– We love visiting the academy of sciences. There’s so much to do there. Big aquarium, rainforest, planetarium, rooftop garden, and natural history museum.
  2. Exploratorium
  3. San Francisco Zoo
  4. Golden Gate Park – there are tons of areas within golden gate park that are worth visiting – the botanical garden, the Japanese tea garden, and the conservatory of flowers are all popular places.
  5. Aquarium of the bay– Located on pier 39. Make a day out of it, bike the pier, lunch by the sea, watch the sea lions.
  6. San Francisco Cable Car Museum
  7. Children’s Creativity Museum
  8. Ocean beach- So beautiful and so much room to run around! We love bringing our dog and letting him run around and hang out on the beach
  9. Golden Gate Bridge – there are so many ways to view this spectacular landmark. Crissy Field, Marin Headlands, and Baker Beach are some of the most popular viewpoints!
  10. Land’s End trail hike – we love visiting here at sunset to take in the view!
  11. De young Museum – make sure to visit the museum and then ride the Ferris wheel afterward to take in the view of golden gate park at sunset!
  12. Stow Lake – the heart of golden gate park. When you visit you must rent a pedal boat out to circle the park.

Peninsula

  4. Hiller Aviation Museum – a museum that shows the history of air travel along with a flight simulator!
  5. Half-moon Bay– Down down the main street, visit the beach, lunch at Sam’s Chowder House.
