Do you know what is the most valuable asset one can have? The answer is unexpected yet simple, Health. And the biggest investment is what you invest in your health. If you want to stay healthy, you need to learn how to maintain a healthy lifestyle now. Opting for a healthy lifestyle will save you a lot of hassle and trouble in the future. Today, I am so excited to talk about tips for a healthy lifestyle because I am super passionate about inspiring others to have a healthy lifestyle. I feel like oftentimes people have the wrong perception of what it means to “live a healthy lifestyle”. They think that having a healthy life means you can’t eat anything you love or do anything you want. That health can be expensive and out of reach or luxury of sorts.

Health has always been a passion of mine. Since my dad passed away at a young age (47) I swore I’d never let anyone I love go through the same traumatic experience as me. And because of that, I want everyone around me to feel the same. A healthy lifestyle is essentially a balanced lifestyle. It is what you make of it. I am addicted to the feeling I get from living the healthy lifestyle I created for myself.

But I wasn’t always like this. When I was young, I did the whole college thing where I’d go out partying till the sun came up, didn’t eat well, didn’t sleep well (because of the partying), and stressed out about school and work. But now, as a mom of three now, my priority is to not only keep them healthy but making sure Doug and I are healthy so we can watch them grow up.

Today I am sharing with you 5 Tips for a HEALTHY LIFESTYLE so that you too can live a healthy lifestyle.

#1 Stress management/Getting relaxed

stress management

Ok…I know what you’re thinking…how do we not stress? Everyone is stressed out about something. But I don’t think we realize how powerful our minds really are, and how stress can cause so many intricacies in our body, like hormone imbalance, gut health, insomnia, acid reflux, skin problems, blood pressure… Ok NOT SCARING YOU, but if left unattended, stress can even lead to obesity, heart disease, and diabetes.

Stress is very normal and I understand it. Especially as a mom you’re constantly caring for others, doing chores, working basically a 24-hour job. But I’m here to make sure you are taking 30 mins of your time each day to care for yourself and trust me when I say, it will be life-changing. Some people like to read, some people like to take a bath, or do some kind of activity to unwind, for me, my form of stress management is exercise and meditation. Since I care for my kids all day and work at the same time, I like to carve out a window of time in the morning so that I can start my day off right. I usually wake up at 5:30 so I can get that 30 mins of self-care time for myself. Not only do I feel like a different person but I can focus more and be a better mom and wife.

Having “me time” is one of the best things you can do for yourself. Find time to relax and do the things that make you happy. Unplug from the world and enjoy some quiet time for yourself. Trust me…everyone’s life is busy… but you have to make yourself your top priority!

#2 Staying Organized

clean home

I am a strong believer in a clean and organized routine and environment. Your environment can change your mood, your attitude, and can have an enormous impact on your health as well. When my house is clean, I feel more focused and more inspired in helping to make healthier choices. I’d want to cook more healthy food, and when I make healthy food for my kids and husband, they are happier. I make a meal plan every Sunday to plan out the week. After that, I make a list of things I need at the store. Staying healthy may not be as easy but staying organized can definitely help you live a healthy lifestyle. When you plan out the week, you’re more likely to stick to that meal than end up buying or splurging on an unhealthy meal like takeout or fast food. Planning out what day you need to work out or go for fun also allows you to keep yourself accountable. Having an organized morning routine organized laundry, organized closets can bring you peace of mind.

“Meanwhile, a Clorox study from last year found that a mere extra hour of cleaning per week can increase reported levels of happiness by 53 percent-a huge number. The study also found that maintaining a clean space is associated with all kinds of benefits: better sleep increased productivity and even better focus.”

#3 Food

healthy lifestyle

We have a fun rule in the family: we try to eat the rainbow as much as we can. You might be thinking okay yeah sure, I can’t make my kids eat vegetables for the life of me. But I’m here to tell you, yes you can. Change can be slow but it’ll only happen if you are consistent and firm about bringing change. Processed food and sugar are definitely not my favorites but from time to time, I give my kids ice cream or cookies. But I tell you what I do is, I DON’T buy it for them so what they don’t see and they won’t crave. We eat mostly whole foods. They absolutely love everything from meat, vegetables, and fruits. My kids have plenty of natural energy – feeding them refined sugar will only make them crash and throw tantrums. Not fun for mom.

#4 Exercise

exercise

It is one of the most obvious tips for a healthy lifestyle but many don’t follow it. I love exercising and that’s why I wake up super early in the morning to workout. But when I don’t make it to my morning workout…I do things like squats while I’m brushing my teeth, lunges when I’m cooking breakfast, or pushups in the living room, etc. Sometimes I bring my kids into it and I squat while holding my toddler. It’s a fun way for me to play with them and to get a bit of exercise in. Trust me when I say every little bit counts. Doing something is better than doing nothing. At my house, we have a 10 mins exercise session in the morning with my kids to start the day off right. The point is to move. MOVE, MOVE AND MOVE as much as you can. Walk to school with your kids, do chores at home, anything! Just remember anything active you’re doing throughout the day is good!

The equation to remember is

Exercise = Endorphins = Happy

#5 Sleep

I’m a firm believer that adults or kids that sleep well are happier people. Getting a good night’s rest is so important. I think people don’t give sleep the credit it deserves. Creating a good sleep routine for you and your kids is an absolute must. Create a good sleep environment: dark blinds, cool temperature, etc. Create good sleep habits: sleep early, no screen time 2 hours before bed, etc. Personally, I love doing 15 mins of yoga with a 10 min meditation before I sleep. For people who are sensitive to caffeine, make sure you don’t drink anything caffeinated later past a certain time. Even though you’re able to fall asleep at night doesn’t mean that the caffeine isn’t still running through your system. Figure out what works best for you and adjust accordingly.

So happy I got to share my 5 tips for a healthy lifestyle with you today. I hope you can apply these easy yet simple tips for healthy everyday living so that you can change your life for good!

Hope you have a wonderful week!

Love

Tiffany
