I still remember when I had my first store-bought juice. I was fascinated by how good it tasted and how I thought it was super healthy for you. False….Yes, it tasted really good, but it’s also super sweet, and definitely not as nutritious as it may seem. So I started making my own smoothies. I wanted to make smoothies that are healthy and delicious because I truly believe that food is medicine. You are what you eat and your health is your foundation, which is why I love healthy green smoothie recipes!

Every morning, I get up at 6 am, before all my kids wake up. I go to the backyard, do a 30 min workout, and then I head to the kitchen, and make a nice refreshing smoothie. This is my morning self-care routine. As a mom of 3, I don’t have much time to myself and I’m always putting the kids first; so smoothies end up being my favorite kind of breakfast because it’s super fast and easy to make. After my first kid wakes up screaming, weIl, have you ever watched Cinderella? When she has to make breakfast, feed the chickens, feed the horses, and then the stepsisters are screaming, “Cinderella?!” Well, replace the stepsisters with my cute little monsters, and picture them screaming, “mommy, I want my milk! I’m hungry!” and that’s my happy life.

I always want to make sure that I feed my family something super nutritious the first thing they wake up. It is my personal belief that when I start my day as healthy as possible, it sets the tone for the rest of the day. I make healthier food choices, I have more energy to spend time with my kids, and I’m just generally in a better mood. My favorite kind of smoothies are healthy green smoothie recipes, smoothies that have kale, spinach, beets, celery, and rainbow chard. Keep in mind, as much as I’m hyping up my love of smoothies, it’s important not to overdo it. Don’t drink a smoothie 3 times a day and not eat anything else. You always want to have a good and balanced diet. But yes, smoothies are awesome. When you’re feeding your body with these superfoods, of course, you’ll feel happier!
