Recipe for Turmeric Shot

If you’ve been following me, you must know how obsessed I am with turmeric and turmeric-related. I have tons of recipes on how I use turmeric in my recipes such as oatmeal, smoothies, golden milk, soup, pickles, so definitely, make sure to check them out! But today, I will share my absolute FAVORITE recipe for turmeric shot, which is my go-to drink in the morning!

Why are ginger and turmeric shots good for you?

Winter is now upon us, which means flu season is here, and (no surprises), COVID is still around! In addition to getting my family vaccinated, my best defense for fortifying my family’s health is to do my best to give them immunity-boosting foods such as this turmeric shot!

benefits of turmeric

I don’t want to jinx myself, but I will say, ever since I developed this recipe for turmeric shot and have consistently been drinking it for 4 years, I have rarely gotten sick. Similar to what most Korean folks will tell you about kimchi, I will tell you that turmeric has a long list of health benefits.

P.S. I hope I didn’t really jinx myself on that. Whether you believe it or not, I strongly urge you to give this a try! Having a strong immune system is critical in a time like this and I always feel that the most powerful remedies are natural ones. Rather than being reactive about COVID, we should always be proactive about taking care of our health first. That means drinking plenty of water, limiting processed foods, getting plenty of exercise, and taking care of mental health!

Anyways, enough about my health rant. If you’ve been following me for a while you get it by now. Back to my recipe for the turmeric shot! The best thing about this recipe is that it’s simple, (5 ingredients or less), easy to make, can be prepped ahead of time, and above all, an excellent preventative measure to help boost our immunity so we have a strong body to fight off all the diseases and bacteria.

I love making a batch as a part of my Sunday Routine. All you need is a high-power blender or a juicer, simple ingredients, and mason jars for storage. The three major ingredients of this shot have medicinal properties, so before getting into the recipe and instructions, let’s find out this Turmeric shot benefits.

What does the Turmeric shot taste like?

Okay, I’m not going to sugarcoat anything, it doesn’t taste like you’re eating at a Michelin star restaurant. Ginger, turmeric, and garlic all have a very strong taste and flavors. Some people might not love it at first, it could burn a little bit after you drink it.

I promise you your health is worth it! You’ll never get used to the taste but man that feeling I get after I take it! Just knowing you’re putting something so good in your body trumps any strong taste. Tip: To maximize the benefit of turmeric tries eating avocado with it!

Where can I find fresh Turmeric?

Turmeric can be found in your local grocery store by the vegetable section. I also bought mine at Costco, whole foods, Asian supermarkets, and some Indian markets. Hope this helps!

Instructions

  • Add everything into a high-speed blender and blend until smooth (with no chunks).

If you need a recommendation, make sure to check out the Vitamix. I know it’s pricey but it’s worth every penny. I’ve had mine for over 5 years now and I literally use it every day….be it smoothies, immunity booster drink, dressing, soups, sauces, desserts, it’s the best…ok you know what I mean.

  • After you blend everything smoothly, now use a cheesecloth or a strainer or paper towel to strain everything out. If you’re using a juicer you don’t need to do that. just juice the turmeric and ginger and garlic and then throw the juice into the blender and blend.
  • Now pour the juice into the mason jar and take a shot every day!

I take this with Doug regularly, sometimes with a green smoothie or celery juice but we take it every day. It only takes less than 5 mins to make. I’m not going to lie, it’s strong and potent but I feel great after taking it.

Building our immunity is so important right now especially through this time with covid and kids going to school. Remember: exercising and sleeping well it goes hand in hand when it comes to building strong immunity.
